ANNOUNCEMENT: ILBIJERRI Theatre Company successful in securing ongoing funding.

ILBIJERRI Theatre Company is very happy to announce that the Australia Council for the Arts has once again recognised the importance of First Nations theatre in its vital contribution to Australia’s cultural fabric for the next four years.

The Board and staff would like to thank Australia Council for supporting the future of not just the company but our community of Elders, artists and our stories.

The government’s investment in ILBIJERRI Theatre Company of $1,850,000, over the four-year period 2021-2024, ensures that our work can continue and grow, allowing us to continue working with our community whilst we all face the challenges of how we live in the current uncertain times and into the future.

Rachael Maza, ILBIJERRI Theatre Company’s Artistic Director said:

“As Artistic Director of ILBIJERRI – I am deeply grateful and humbled for our company to have been successful in today’s announcement from Australia Council’s Four-Year Funding for Organisations. Having sat on the peer review panels myself, I know how difficult it must have been for those having to make some very tough decisions. I’d like to thank those in the council for all their hard work and commitment to the Arts. My immediate thoughts go out to those who have not been successful today.  The impacts will be felt right across the Arts sector; hence we are committed to supporting those First Nation artists affected.”
