BLACK TIES SPARKLES

Yirramboi Festival was a pretty big and exciting week for First Nations arts community in Melbourne. So much incredible work. So much talent, passion and goodwill. And while all that was going on, ILBIJERRI was also sweating it out in the room with Te Rēhia Theatre, for the second Creative Development of BLACK TIES, culminating in a booked-out showing at Younghusband, presented as part of the festival.
This major new work will be a first international collaboration between First Nations theatre companies from Australia and Autearoa/New Zealand, and the excitement is building. We can’t say to much, but basically…you should be planning your wedding outfits and getting the family organised in anticipation…you will be hearing more about this one!
Thanks to all the artists and producers who have worked hard to bring this mammoth creation to the next stage!
Also thanks to our existing supporters: Asia Topa, Australia Council for the Arts, Creative Victoria, City of Melbourne and Creative New Zealand. And to our project champions: Confederation of Australian International Arts Festivals through the Major Festivals Initiative, an Australian Government initiative, managed by the Australia Council for the Arts.
