Congratulations to ILBIJERRI Youth Ensemble

Congratulations to ILBIJERRI Youth Ensemble for a great showing to wrap up a fantastic first year. The showing took place at Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne. Ensemble members performed monologues to an intimate, enthusiastic audience of friends and family.

In the words of ILBIJERRI Associate Producer Davey Thompson who produces the Youth Ensemble: ‘Youth Ensemble is our contribution to the solution of closing the gap between tertiary arts education and a professional career. With the way the industry is, it’s can be hard for a young artist to get that much-needed boost to their resume in order to get work. The ILBIJERRI Youth Ensemble is where young, Melbourne-based First Nations artists can come to hone their talent whilst meeting other young artists, as well as First Nations professionals working in a handful of different areas in the sector. It’s a relaxed, positive environment where people are encouraged to be themselves. No shame in the space!’

ILBIJERRI Youth Ensemble will kick off again in 2019 with free classes open to First Nations artists aged 15-28. For more information, please contact davey@ilbijerri.com.au, or give us a call on 0393299097
