Deadly Fringe unearths and nurtures brand new works by First Nations artists. Now in its second year, and after the roaring success of the firstDeadly Fringe 2018 features new work from three First Nations artists supported by two First Nations producers.

Together with our partners at Melbourne Fringe, we’ve been working with writer, performance artist, storyteller and musician Declan Furber Gillick (Arrernte) on BIGHOUSE DREAMING, a piece of theatrical storytelling about the experience of a young Aboriginal person in the NT Youth Justice System. Award-winning actress and writer Sandy Greenwood (Gumbaynggrir, Dunghutti and Bundjalung) has been developing MATRIARCH, a work fusing music, storytelling, archival footage and hip-hop to tell the true stories of four generations of First Nations Women. Sermsah Bin Saad (Nyikina) has developed LIYAN, a work that uses dance, theatre, song and poetry to follow the stars, weaving a tale of getting lost and finding yourself.

Guided by our two emerging First Nations producers Caleena Sansbury (Narrunga, Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna) and Laila Thaker (Badulaig, Meriam Mir), these artists will deliver another program of deadly work.
